The Electronic Media Foundation was formed in 1995 as the ‘Education Foundation Aotearoa’. The Foundation changed its name to EMFANZ two years later in 1997. The founding members were a group of friends and associates - professionals in the fields of psychology, visual communications, education, internet development and video / film production. Their initiative was in response to the lack of modern, effective educational and support media in many key areas of community need, and the lack of a central resource facility for countless educational, training and support videos and other important information resources that are held separately by community groups, trusts, government and tertiary education departments, etcetera, nationally. A great deal of this material is held without the knowledge of many people and groups who are disadvantaged by a lack of access to it - a situation that adds to the burden on our social welfare system (It is a goal of The Foundation to build a central database and library for this valuable resource so that everyone may have access to it). Kathryn is a member of the EMFANZ Board of Trustees. EMFANZ is a charitable non profit organization administered by a board of trustees. |
